Hingecraft
A practical craft of thresholds, boundaries and crossings.
It draws on British folklore, witchcraft, land lore and practical magical traditions, with particular attention to the places and actions that mark an edge.
Hingecraft brings together observation, folklore and hands-on practice. It looks at how we recognise thresholds, how we work with them and what happens when we disturb them.
Recognising what we are working with comes before deciding how to act.
Hingecraft can sit alongside an existing practice.
You bring your own knowledge, skills and material to the work.
The Spit Principle
The Spit Principle is a doctrine within Hingecraft.
It explores the spade, its lore and its use as a threshold tool.
Depth, proportion and consequence are central to this work: where we intervene, how far we go and what follows.
